About This Role

The Senior School:

The Senior academic program is inspired by the finest elements of the UK National Curriculum. Each department provides GCSE or IGCSE courses for E and D Block (Year 10 and 11) students. In the Sixth Form, learners at Rugby School Thailand pursue A Levels. Currently, the Senior section of the School accommodates approximately 300 students. Unlike many international institutions, Rugby School Thailand features extended school days that include a diverse array of Enrichment activities.

The Senior facilities are meticulously designed to provide an exceptional educational atmosphere. The main structures consist of a dedicated teaching block, cutting-edge Design and Technology and Art and Design studios, ICT suites, Drama studios, a Black Box theatre, Music classrooms, seventeen music practice rooms, a recording studio, and a dance studio. The separate Science Centre contains 13 laboratories and a lecture theatre. The Webb Ellis Centre boasts both 50m and 25m swimming pools along with a warm-up pool, an air-conditioned basketball stadium, a fitness suite, gymnasium, and two PE classrooms. Additionally, there are floodlit football fields and tennis courts that enhance the sports offerings. The Sixth Form Centre serves as a central space for Year 12 and 13 students engaging in both independent and collaborative study as they work towards their A Levels.

The Science Department:

The Sciences are delivered in the School’s custom-designed Science centre, equipped with outstanding facilities. Faculty members collaborate closely, emphasizing the exchange of effective practices across and within the science disciplines.

Students commence their IGCSE studies at the start of F Block (Year 9), where they build foundational knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. A particular emphasis is placed on developing experimental and data handling skills during this initial year. F Block students engage in 8 periods (70-minute lessons) throughout a two-week cycle across the three sciences. In D and E Blocks (Years 10 and 11), students pursue CIE IGCSEs in either Chemistry, Biology, and Physics or Coordinated Science based on their academic abilities and interests, participating in 4 periods per science in a two-week cycle. Science subjects are popular choices in the Sixth Form, with the Physics department adhering to the Cambridge International A-level specification.

The Science Department currently offers a variety of co-curricular activities as part of its program, reflecting our core philosophy to challenge, inspire learning, and enhance students’ scientific skills and reasoning. Activities include the RST Science Magazine, the Biology Enrichment club, and the ‘Effective study skills in science’ club, among others. Students actively participate in competitions such as the British Physics Olympiad and the Cambridge Science competition, achieving notable success. Additionally, numerous study clubs and clinics are available to provide extra support. Science teachers are expected to foster interest and offer guidance in the sciences beyond the standard curriculum.
