About This Role

Are you a dynamic and innovative educator with a passion for teaching Physics? The British International School, Cairo is eager to find you!

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Physics teacher with a robust understanding of the National Curriculum for England or a British-style educational setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Physics instruction across the Senior School, including GCSE and IB levels, as well as teaching General Science in Key Stage 3. Familiarity with the IB curriculum is advantageous. Our school features excellent Science resources and facilities, and our Science Department promotes a collaborative environment, sharing ideas and nurturing a strong learning culture.

Person Specification

  • A graduate in Physics or a related discipline, with Qualified Teacher Status and a minimum of three years of post-QTS teaching experience.
  • An inspiring and creative educator who is passionate about teaching, capable of motivating and engaging students through various instructional strategies.
  • Recent experience teaching Physics within the National Curriculum for England, including (I)GCSE, A level, or IB.
  • Incorporates assessment for learning as a fundamental aspect of classroom activities.
  • Skilled at challenging high-achieving students while providing necessary support for those who require additional help.
  • A strong team player who collaborates effectively.
  • Committed to continuous professional development.
  • Enthusiastic about participating in co-curricular activities.
  • Meets the safeguarding standards set by the school.

All faculty members are expected to engage actively in co-curricular activities, school events, and excursions. In compliance with Egyptian employment regulations, candidates must hold QTS and have at least three years of post-qualification teaching experience.

Remuneration

The British International School, Cairo (BISC) offers a competitive, tax-free salary, fully paid in Pound Sterling and directly deposited into a UK bank account. Additionally, expatriate teachers receive a substantial housing allowance, private BUPA Gold medical insurance that covers family dependents, annual return flights to the UK, and two complimentary places for school-age children. Notably, our staff receives their entire salary in foreign currency (GBP), and the low cost of living enables staff to save significantly while enjoying a high standard of living.
