Kitikmeot School Operations is seeking candidates for the position of:
Vice-Principal
Grade: K-12

This competition will remain open until the position is filled.
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: June 2029

The status of this position is: TERM
This role is a 1.0 PY (full-time position).

The Nunavut Department of Education is dedicated to fostering staff development through effective professional learning opportunities. Currently, Nunavut schools are concentrating on enhancing literacy outcomes for all students while ensuring that their learning experiences are culturally relevant and respectful.

Arviligruaq Ilinniarvik School is located in the beautiful hamlet of Kugaaruk and serves the local community. The school caters to approximately 381 students in a K-12 environment and has a staff of 46. The school and its community are deeply enriched by Inuit cultural heritage.

Required qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education degree
- Teaching certification acceptable for Nunavut
- At least 3 years of teaching experience

Desired qualifications:
- Experience and/or training in current assessment methods
- Evidence of implementing differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Experience and/or training in classroom management and developing positive learning environments (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behaviour Supports, etc.)
- Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
- Training and/or teaching experience in an ESL setting
- Proven ability to cultivate positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and stakeholders
- Successful experience in conflict resolution
- Ability to use data analysis to enhance student learning
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with administrative software
- Coursework, certification, and demonstrated leadership experience
- Proven ability to lead teamwork and collaboration initiatives

Please note: Subsidized housing is available, though sharing may be necessary.
The salary for certified vice principals ranges from $105,049 prorated/annum to $153,368 prorated/annum. The Northern Allowance for Kugaaruk is $26,639 prorated/annum.
