OBJECTIVES

We are looking for an experienced Biology teacher with at least two years of teaching experience at the Senior/High School level (UK Key Stages 3-5 or equivalent).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Curriculum:


Instruct students in Biology (and General Science) as part of the Science department.


Work collaboratively with the Head of Science and fellow educators to develop schemes of work that emphasize:


Facilitating progression for every student


Promoting active learning and student engagement


Implementing assessment strategies to enhance learning


Meeting the diverse needs of all learners, particularly through language support


Integrating ICT into the curriculum


Creating enrichment opportunities and fostering external partnerships

Learning:


Maintain up-to-date records of student progress across all areas of performance


Ensure that students achieve satisfactory or exceptional progress in Science


Effectively address issues related to behavior, attendance, and punctuality

Assessment:


Regularly assess and mark students' work in accordance with departmental and school-wide assessment policies


Keep detailed records of student achievements and progress


Analyze student performance against school and national standards at both individual and group levels, taking necessary actions to boost achievement and tackle any underperformance


Provide comprehensive assessment and feedback

Policy:


Engage in relevant meetings


Carry out any additional responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Master or Head of Science


Contribute to the growth of the department as a team member within Science

Guidance & Welfare:

If applicable, act as a form tutor with the following responsibilities:


Support the academic and overall development of tutees, in line with school policies;


Monitor progress and help students set targets and plan actions;


Ensure that all students are treated with respect and in accordance with the school's values.

BASIC QUALIFICATION

Education:


Bachelor’s degree (BSc) from a recognized university.


Formal teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).

Major: Biology, Science, or a related field

Language: Proficient in both written and spoken English

Working experience: Minimum of two years teaching experience in Biology.

EXPERTISE


Solid subject knowledge with a strong interest in current scientific advancements.


Experience in developing and executing curricula for senior school Biology.


Familiarity with A-level/GCSE/IGCSE curricula, including their implementation and assessment.


Understanding of differentiated instruction strategies to support various learning needs.


Proficient in formative and summative assessment techniques.


Ability to use digital learning platforms (such as Microsoft Teams) and multimedia tools for language instruction.

A true passion for science and the ability to motivate a diverse student body


Skill in integrating modern educational technology into teaching practices.


Strong classroom management and communication skills, with excellent written and verbal English.


Integrity, empathy, flexibility, and a good sense of humor.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
