About This Role

Location: NACIS Shanghai

NACIS Shanghai is in search of a Bagpipe Teacher to spearhead the NACIS Bagpipe School Youth Team, the inaugural Youth Bagpipe Team in China.

Through our initiatives such as the Global Campus, Nord Anglia University, and partnerships with esteemed institutions like The Juilliard School, MIT, UNICEF, and King’s College London, you will have a significant impact on our students and the community.

The School:
Established in September 2016, NACIS Shanghai provides a stimulating, creative, and rewarding educational experience. We welcome students aged 6 to 18 into our forward-thinking and globally aware school environment. Our unique bilingual, blended learning program culminates in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Situated in the Minhang District of Shanghai, the school boasts state-of-the-art facilities that enhance our innovative educational approach. Our faculty hails from ten different countries, with a notable representation from China, the UK, Ireland, and North America.

The Role:
We are looking for a Bagpipe Teacher to join our team, with responsibilities that include:
1) Showcasing extensive knowledge of bagpipes and demonstrating flexibility within the Performing Arts department to teach various aspects and age groups of the curriculum.
2) Ensuring that planning, preparation, teaching, assessment, and reporting effectively cater to the students’ needs and align with the school’s expectations.
3) Setting high expectations for our students by designing engaging learning activities that correspond to our Secondary curriculum and fostering a culture of achievement.
4) Creating a respectful classroom atmosphere that encourages learning through inquiry and discussion.
5) Contributing actively to broader school development and progress.
6) Collaborating with Primary and Secondary School performing arts teachers to build a high-performing department, utilizing our partnership with Juilliard to inspire and guide students throughout the secondary school.

The Successful Candidate will Possess:
1) Experience teaching bagpipes, and additional expertise in another subject area would be advantageous.
2) A solid understanding of effective teaching methodologies and the ability to cater to the diverse needs of all students through thoughtful classroom organization, differentiation, and learning strategies.
3) A bachelor’s degree is essential.
4) A collaborative spirit and adaptability.

About You:
You will be eager to collaborate and share your specialized knowledge, representing the school with pride. Your communication skills will enable you to engage confidently with varied audiences, establishing strong relationships with both parents and students. You should be able to thrive in our dynamic international setting and meet visa requirements for China, including holding a bachelor’s degree, passing a non-criminal background check, and possessing a minimum of 24 months of teaching experience.
