Aldar Academies seeks a Teacher of Drama to join Bateen World Academy, commencing in August 2026.

The academy offers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) from FS1 to Year 6, alongside the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) for Years 12 and 13. This comprehensive educational framework seamlessly integrates the best aspects of PYP, UK, and IB curricula, catering to students from FS1 through Year 13.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement outstanding teaching and learning experiences aligned with the school’s Teaching and Learning Policy.
  • Create an engaging learning environment that encourages exemplary teaching practices.
  • Set clear teaching and learning objectives, establishing specific targets that build on students’ prior achievements.
  • Identify students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), English as an Additional Language (EAL), and Gifted & Talented (G&T) backgrounds, ensuring their needs are addressed through personalized differentiation.
  • Develop organized lesson plans and activities that sustain student engagement, maintain pace, and provide adequate challenges.
  • Effectively use performance data and key metrics to guide lesson planning and deliver differentiated instruction.
  • Incorporate ICT tools to improve learning outcomes and track student progress.
  • Maintain discipline following the school's Behaviour for Learning Policy, promoting punctuality, appropriate behavior, and high standards in both work and homework.
  • Assess the achievement of learning objectives and use this feedback to refine teaching strategies.
  • Evaluate and grade student work bi-weekly, setting progress targets in line with the school's Marking Policy.
  • Methodically document and assess student progress, using performance data to inform planning and support learning.
  • Conduct assessments as required by examination boards, departmental guidelines, and school procedures.
  • Participate in and support events involving parents and students.
  • Engage in curriculum development by creating, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work.
  • Keep abreast of subject knowledge through continuous professional development and scholarly reading.
  • Contribute to the school's Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) Programme by leading or assisting in after-school programs within the Drama and Music department, including school performances (note: ECA does not encompass I/GCSE and IB DP Revision/Booster Sessions).
  • Lead and/or support school development initiatives.
  • Collaborate and communicate with external agencies and other educational institutions as necessary.
  • Serve as an Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor for Year 12/13 students.
  • Carry out duties as assigned in the staff duty rota and provide coverage for absent colleagues.
  • Supervise examinations as required, assisting the Examinations Officer and managing the Summer Examination Schedule.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as designated by the Principal.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Drama, complemented by a PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Minimum Experience:

  • Newly Qualified Teacher Status (NQTS).

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience working with students for whom English is not the primary language.
  • A strong understanding of the curriculum and effective teaching strategies.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
