Job Summary
Bialik Hebrew Day School is seeking an enthusiastic senior division Language & Social Studies teacher to join our dynamic educational team during a paternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching students in Grades 6–7, following the Ontario curriculum. This role requires the use of teaching and assessment methods that embrace UDL and differentiated instruction, along with providing personalized accommodations to meet individual student needs. This full-time Long-Term Occasional (LTO) position is scheduled to commence in March 2026 and will continue until the end of the 2025-26 school year at our Viewmount Branch, located at 2760 Bathurst Street, Toronto. The salary for this role ranges from $52,013.18 to $116,511.48, as stipulated in the Teachers Collective Agreement, and will be prorated based on the LTO duration.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Deliver an all-encompassing program that aligns with the Ontario Curriculum.
- Teach engaging lessons in Language and Social Studies (History and Geography) for Grades 6–8.
- Create developmentally appropriate learning experiences that engage all students.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Inspire a love of learning through creative and interactive activities.
- Student Assessment and Support
- Develop and implement diverse assessment tools.
- Offer individualized support and constructive feedback to help each student reach their full potential.
- Collaborate with support staff to address the varied needs of students.
- Prepare and write student report cards.
- Classroom Management
- Cultivate a positive and safe classroom environment that promotes respect and collaboration.
- Apply effective classroom management techniques to foster a productive learning space.
- Handle classroom behavior following school policies.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Promote open and effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences and attend school meetings.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to enrich the overall educational experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education.
- Ontario College of Teachers Certification (OCT).
- Candidates must have legal eligibility to work in Canada and be authorized for roles in childcare and primary/secondary education.
