About This Role

At GEMS World Academy in Abu Dhabi, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive and dynamic educational setting where every student is valued, challenged, and supported. Situated on Al Reem Island, our school combines the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework with aspects of the British curriculum, providing students with a well-rounded and globally-focused education.

We are inviting applications from talented and enthusiastic educators for the role of Head of Arabic, starting in August 2026. This position will include a teaching component.

Our Arabic Department has greatly improved student achievements through a progressive and student-centered approach that integrates data-driven strategies with compassion and expertise. The team is well-respected for its commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and the overall welfare of each student.

Teaching, Learning & Curriculum

  • Deliver excellent Arabic lessons that align with MOE and ADEK curriculum guidelines.
  • Develop and prepare engaging lessons that cater to the varied needs and abilities of students.
  • Monitor student progress and leverage assessment data to inform instruction and improve outcomes.
  • Effectively execute school policies and directives from line managers regarding teaching, learning, and student conduct.
  • Participate in and promote competitions, projects, and enrichment activities to enhance student engagement and achievement.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education and ADEK policies in classroom practices.
  • Support the department in preparation for external evaluations and internal audits.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and reporting in line with school policies.

National Identity & Cultural Engagement

  • Integrate and promote UAE national identity, values, and heritage within Arabic lessons.
  • Engage in national celebrations and events (e.g., UAE National Day, Flag Day, Commemoration Day).
  • Cultivate cultural awareness and appreciation among students and their families.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Arabic Department to share best practices and resources.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and contribute to departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Provide mentorship and support for new or developing educators as necessary.

Parent & Student Engagement

  • Establish effective communication with parents to keep them informed about student progress.
  • Respond to inquiries from parents and students promptly and professionally.
  • Build positive home-school partnerships to support student progress and well-being.

Departmental Contribution

  • Contribute to departmental meetings and initiatives that align with the overall objectives of the school.
  • Assist with departmental data collection, assessment records, and reporting systems as necessary.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives (e.g., competitions, clubs, community projects).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language / Education (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Teaching qualification recognized by MOE/ADEK.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience in Arabic, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with ADEK inspections, MOE compliance, and departmental leadership.
