About This Role
Uphold and foster the principles and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values. Deliver the designated curriculum with a firm grasp of current and relevant subject matter. Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students. Develop and utilize appropriate resources and classroom settings to accommodate various learning styles. Provide documented evidence of lesson planning and preparation upon request. Maintain comprehensive records, including curriculum outlines, year plans, attendance, teaching materials, and assessment strategies. Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently. Tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, employing suitable teaching methods for varying abilities, such as late entrants, ESL learners, and those with differing academic strengths. Assign and evaluate assignments, while also assessing, documenting, and reporting on students' academic growth, ensuring that the curriculum aligns with individual requirements. Demonstrate proficiency in incorporating media and technology within the classroom. Support the overall development and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational issues. Engage with external stakeholders when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education. Participate in performance evaluations, appraisal processes, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiatives. Collaborate with colleagues in creating and enhancing teaching resources, study programs, and pastoral care arrangements. Take an active role in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, leading when appropriate. Foster a positive work environment through leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences. Supervise and promote safe and appropriate student behavior. Develop and execute strategies that encourage self-discipline and address disruptive behavior. Advocate for cultural awareness and understanding while nurturing a passion for learning. Assist in coordinating school events and activities, including inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award days. Maintain regular communication with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values, keeping them informed of their child's progress while respecting confidentiality. Demonstrate commitment by investing effort beyond standard working hours when necessary. Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed. Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by direct or indirect supervisors.
