✅ Summary & Responsibilities
The Principal is tasked with overseeing the comprehensive operations of the urban First Nation school. This role involves ensuring that students benefit from programming and support tailored to their distinctive educational, emotional, social, cultural, and physical needs. The Principal will also ensure compliance with all relevant provincial licensing and curricular standards. Additionally, maintaining collaborative relationships with community agencies that engage with the school is essential. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the employer as needed.
🎓 Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Arts/Science alongside a Bachelor of Education, or alternatively a Bachelor of Education or a diploma in an Aboriginal Education program. Completion of Parts 1 and 2 of the “Principal’s Qualification Program” is required, or candidates must demonstrate a commitment to completing these within a two-year timeframe. Membership in the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) is mandatory. Strong management, planning, and organizational abilities are essential. A solid understanding of education systems, structures, and funding models is necessary, and prior experience in school administration is a valuable asset. A valid driver’s license is also required.
