St Catherine’s British School is looking to hire a passionate, experienced, and highly motivated EYFS Class Teacher to start in September 2026. The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to Early Years education, with a solid grasp of play-based learning and child development principles. St Catherine’s is a prominent independent British international school serving around 1400 students aged 3 to 18. The school is affiliated with HMC and COBIS and is an IB World School. Job Description

Reports to: Head of EYFS
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hours: 8:15am – 3:45pm (including a 30-minute break), Monday to Friday
Place of Work: Lower School
Holidays: Term-time only

Key Relationships

• EYFS teaching team, Early Years Practitioners (EYPs), and support staff
• Head of EYFS and wider school leadership
• Pupils and their families
• External professionals assisting pupils with additional needs

Main Responsibilities

• Design and implement a high-quality EYFS curriculum, blending child-initiated and adult-led learning experiences
• Develop engaging continuous provision that mirrors children’s interests and encourages exploration, creativity, and independence
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where all children feel valued and supported
• Aid children’s development across all learning areas, including personal, social, emotional, communication, language, and physical growth
• Observe, assess, and document children’s progress, using this data to inform planning and next steps
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver both indoor and outdoor learning experiences
• Establish strong, positive partnerships with parents and caregivers, communicating progress and encouraging learning beyond the classroom
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and wellbeing at all times
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and broader school initiatives
• Stay updated with advancements in EYFS practices and curriculum guidelines
• Adhere to the school’s safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all pupils

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Years Education (or related field)
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g. Greek Teaching Permit)
• Proven experience teaching within EYFS in a UK or international context
• Familiarity with the English National Curriculum framework
• Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning

Knowledge & Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of the EYFS Framework and early childhood development
• Expertise in play-based learning and continuous provision
• Ability to assess, track, and support the progress of individual pupils
• Excellent classroom management and organizational abilities
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team

While this job description delineates the primary responsibilities of the role, the post-holder may be required to undertake additional duties as assigned by the Head of EYFS or Head of Lower School.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
