Are you a Life Changer? Do you aspire to make a transformative impact on the life of a child?

Compass Community prioritizes children through our innovative therapeutic approach. Our guiding principles of Integrity, Courage, and Care shape our interactions. We engage in deep listening, challenge one another, and collaboratively address what needs improvement.

This is the mission. We invite you to join us.

CCS Eld Park is a specialist independent school catering to young individuals aged 6–17, who are greeted with kindness, understanding, and a sincere belief in their potential. We offer therapeutic, child-focused education in a nurturing environment that fosters a sense of belonging. New team members frequently express that they feel integrated into the community within days, highlighting the warm atmosphere we all cherish.

Our students present a variety of additional SEND needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Many have faced difficulties in traditional educational settings, making positive relationships and gentle encouragement essential for helping them reconnect with learning.

The work we do is meaningful and responsive to each child's developing needs, incorporating therapeutic support into staff development so we can respond thoughtfully and consistently. Education professionals, families, and our learners collectively contribute to this journey, celebrating progress throughout our community.

The Role

Teaching Assistants at our school understand that each day is unique and that every child has distinct needs. Our students require dedicated adults capable of supporting them through complex and challenging behaviors.

Teaching Assistants in our institution recognize that our children need considerable attention, the right kind of communication, consistency, and flexibility, all while maintaining a non-judgmental stance. They must be resilient, persistent, and solution-oriented to effectively meet our pupils' needs, often wearing multiple hats and adapting as needed.

Responsibilities of our Teaching Assistants will include:
- Supporting teaching and learning
- Working one-on-one with children or leading small group sessions
- Managing classroom resources
- Accompanying children on educational outings
- Sharing lunch with children who face social challenges
- Possessing a good foundational understanding of English and Maths
- Ensuring the safety of children exhibiting heightened behaviors through strong behavior management skills and excellent communication
- Designing, playing, and facilitating games to enhance pupils' social skills and further their learning
- Creating engaging displays that support teaching and foster an exceptional learning environment
- Celebrating achievements
- Participating in therapeutic training sessions or reflecting on challenging periods

Our Teaching Assistants are valued members of our team. We want them to engage in decision-making processes that influence our school, enhance outcomes for children, and advocate for each child. Their contributions are welcomed in developing both the academic curriculum and our extracurricular offerings, allowing them to bring their interests and passions into the mix.
