About This Role

ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Pre-Engineering and STEAM Teaching Assistant + Monitor to support the delivery of interactive engineering and STEAM activities during our Summer Camp program. This role entails assisting with the construction of the Bufori EViE Kart, facilitating STEAM projects for participants aged 9 and above, and ensuring wellbeing support throughout both daily and evening events.

The program will take place over four weeks, from 24 June to 25 July 2026, organized into two two-week camp sessions that involve both teaching assistance and residential monitoring duties. The selected candidate will work closely with the program coordinator, teaching staff, and camp leaders to ensure a secure, dynamic, and well-organized camp environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Assist in executing engaging pre-engineering and STEAM lessons and hands-on activities.


Support the assembly of the Bufori EViE Kart and the distribution of STEAM project kits.


Help develop and tailor lesson content to meet the varied needs and abilities of students.


Collaborate with the program coordinator to plan the two-week camp schedules and intended learning outcomes.


Facilitate the adaptation of activities to cater to different skill levels and experiences.


Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters teamwork and critical thinking.


Assist in evaluating student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage growth.


Supervise students (typically 10–15 aged 9–17) ensuring they are always monitored.


Support evening activities, outings, and airport transfers as per camp schedules.


Participate in duty rotations, including supervision during breaks, meal times, pool sessions, and nighttime monitoring as needed.


Be accountable for materials used in activities and assist in keeping all areas clean and organized.


Address first aid and wellbeing needs and promptly report any injuries, accidents, or health issues.


Attend all training sessions, safeguarding workshops, and staff meetings.


Comply with school policies, staff handbook guidelines, health and safety standards, and safeguarding protocols at all times.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:


A degree in engineering, computer science, or related new technologies.


A solid foundation in engineering and STEAM.


Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.


Previous experience in curriculum delivery (preferred).


Must be at least 19 years of age.


Advanced or Proficient level of English (C1–C2 required).


Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.


Strong planning, organizing, and task prioritization skills.


Creativity and the ability to inspire innovative thinking.


Capacity to work independently and maintain self-motivation.


Excellent time management skills and a commitment to fulfilling responsibilities.


A positive, adaptable attitude and the ability to handle new and complex situations.


A commitment to professional behavior, safeguarding, and the wellbeing of children.


Valid authorization to work within the EU.

Compensation

Salary: Euros 1400 gross for the whole period. Included: accommodation, meals, accident insurance Day Off: 3 mornings a week, Saturday afternoon and Sunday
