Senior School Dutch Language Acquisition / Literature Teacher (Immediate Positions & for 2026/2027)
We are excited to find an enthusiastic and dynamic Dutch Language Teacher with a robust background in both Language & Literature and Language Acquisition.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a true passion for language education, a commitment to fostering intercultural awareness, and the capability to inspire students to express themselves confidently in Dutch.
You will teach across the IGCSE, IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP), guiding students from beginners learning Dutch as a second language to advanced learners critically analyzing literary works. There may also be opportunities to support educational activities in other areas of the school as needed.
What will your daily tasks involve?
The successful candidate will:
- Develop and deliver engaging Dutch language lessons that focus on enhancing students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
- Teach across both Language Acquisition and Language & Literature pathways, addressing a wide range of proficiency levels.
- Adapt instruction to support multilingual learners and students with diverse learning profiles.
- Foster confidence, creativity, and the authentic use of Dutch in both classroom settings and beyond.
- Promote students’ appreciation for Dutch culture, literature, and identity in a global context.
- Design and contribute to an inquiry-based, concept-driven curriculum aligned with IB and IGCSE standards.
- Utilize various formative and summative assessment techniques to monitor student progress and inform teaching strategies.
- Offer constructive, clear feedback to support student growth and self-reflection.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and advancement within the language program.
- Integrate digital resources, authentic materials, and interdisciplinary approaches into language instruction.
- Engage in enrichment activities, including language clubs, cultural events, and competitions.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote international-mindedness and intercultural understanding.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages student well-being and engagement.
What qualifications and experience should you have?
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in teaching Dutch language and/or literature at primary and/or secondary levels.
- Experience teaching Dutch as both a first and an additional language.
- Familiarity with IB programs (PYP, MYP, DP) and/or IGCSE is highly preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in Education, Dutch Language and Literature, Linguistics, or a related field, along with a recognized teaching qualification.
- Fluency in both Dutch and English (oral and written).
- A strong understanding of language acquisition methods and literacy development strategies.
- Experience in differentiating instruction to support diverse and multilingual learners.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to inspire students and cultivate a love for language and literature.
- A collaborative mindset and a dedication to being an integral part of the wider school community.
- Creativity, cultural awareness, and enthusiasm for intercultural education.
- A commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective teaching practices.
