Main purpose
The teacher will:
Uphold the professional responsibilities expected of a teacher while consistently aligning with the standards set forth in the UK and UAE Teachers’ Standards.
Qualifications and experience
•
Possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
•
Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree along with a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed.).
•
Have at least 1-2 years of proven teaching experience in Art and Design Technology within the British Curriculum (preferred).
•
Experience in the UAE is a plus (preferred).
Skills and Knowledge
•
Knowledge of the British National Curriculum.
•
Understanding of adaptive teaching and learning strategies.
•
A sound understanding of how children learn.
•
Ability to modify teaching methods to cater to the diverse needs of students.
•
Skilled at establishing productive relationships with students.
•
Awareness of child safeguarding guidelines and protocols.
•
Knowledge of effective behavior management strategies.
•
Strong ICT skills, particularly in utilizing technology to enhance learning.
•
Ethical and safe integration of AI in the learning process.
•
Familiarity with UAE policy frameworks and inspection processes (preferred).

Duties and responsibilities
Teaching
•
Create and deliver well-structured lessons for assigned classes, following the school’s pedagogical framework, curriculum, and schemes of work.
•
Assess, monitor, document, and report on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of assigned pupils, using assessments effectively.
•
Adapt teaching to suit the strengths and needs of students, setting high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge them.
•
Encourage positive progress and outcomes among students.
•
Demonstrate strong knowledge of the subject and curriculum.
•
Prepare students for external assessments.
•
Utilize culturally relevant resources that comply with UAE laws and expectations.
•
Develop curricula and lessons in accordance with UAE laws and customs.
Whole-school organisation, strategy and development
•
Contribute to the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices, and procedures, supporting the school’s vision and values.
•

Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and student development for coordinated outcomes.

Provide coverage when another teacher is unavailable.

Safeguarding

Adhere to statutory safeguarding guidelines (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education) along with our safeguarding and child protection policies.
•
Work alongside the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to act in the best interests of students, including reporting concerns as necessary.
•
Promote the safeguarding of all students at the school at all times.
•
Complete all required safeguarding training promptly.
Other areas of responsibility
•
Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and frameworks mandated by the KHDA, BSO, and the UAE Ministry of Education.
•
Assist the leadership team in preparing for and executing the KHDA inspection process, developing and following up on post-inspection action plans.
•
Contribute to the success of the UAE National Agenda.
•
Maintain professional and positive communication with all KHDA and Government Officials, representing the school at necessary forums and meetings as requested by the Principal.
