ROLE SUMMARY:
Northfields International School is a prestigious independent co-educational day school based in Mauritius, providing an English-medium education for over 1300 students aged 18 months to 18 years. The Northfields campus, located in Labourdonnais, is situated on owned freehold land and boasts various subject classrooms, specialized science labs, computer suites, art studios, and dedicated spaces for Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL) support. The school delivers internationally recognized educational programs and qualifications, including the Cambridge curriculum and the International Baccalaureate. The educational path begins with the Reggio Emilia Pre-Nursery, followed by the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Primary School students can advance to Secondary School, where they participate in a 5-year Cambridge curriculum from Years 7-11, culminating in the Cambridge IGCSE examination at the conclusion of Year 11. Sixth Form students then embark on either the 2-year IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Cambridge A levels.

As an authorized IB World School, Northfields' quality is further bolstered by its accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and its membership in the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA). The school is registered and licensed in Mauritius with the Ministry of Gender Equality & Welfare for its Pre-Nursery, with the Early Childhood Care and Education Authority (ECCEA) and the Ministry of Education and Human Resources for the Primary School, and with the Private Secondary Education Authority (PSEA) for its Secondary School.

We are seeking a Music Teacher to join our team in August 2026.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Develop and deliver lessons with specific objectives and assessments.


Craft engaging activities that spark interest and build on existing knowledge.


Address the unique needs of each student while maintaining lesson structure, pacing, and motivation.


Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including questioning techniques, resource selection, and study skill development.


Ensure effective time management, assessment utilization, and compliance with school policies concerning discipline, behavior, and homework.


Contribute to curriculum development by setting clear objectives and success criteria.


Act as a class tutor, assisting with student progress and well-being.


Record attendance, encourage participation, and address individual student concerns.


Prepare reports and action plans while collaborating with staff to communicate student needs.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:


A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline or a B.Ed.


A Post Graduate Certificate of Education or an equivalent qualification.


A minimum of 2–5 years' experience teaching Music.


Experience using ICT to enhance teaching and learning processes.


Ability to establish clear expectations and ambitious targets.


A strong grasp of the relevant subject matter.


Skill in assessing learning effectiveness.


Enthusiasm, creativity, and a growth-oriented mindset.


A genuine commitment to upholding the highest standards of student welfare.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


Experience teaching IGCSE, A Level, and IBDP Programs.


Previous experience in an international school setting.
