Southpointe is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and passionate teacher committed to inquiry-based and concept-driven education. The Junior School Classroom Teacher position will report to the Junior School Principal or a designated representative, with the role commencing on August 27, 2026.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work alongside colleagues to develop and support an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary learning program aligned with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
  • Build caring, respectful, and trusting relationships with students and families, acknowledging the importance of partnership in education.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that fosters student well-being, voice, and mutual respect.
  • Integrate purposeful and age-appropriate technology to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to the International Baccalaureate, the Primary Years Programme, and other school initiatives.
  • Design, prepare, and deliver impactful learning experiences that ignite curiosity, creativity, and authentic engagement.
  • Select and adapt instructional strategies, resources, and learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Develop and implement a range of authentic assessments that inform instruction, support student growth, and provide timely, clear feedback to students and families.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive records of student learning and progress for teaching, assessment, and reporting purposes.
  • Regularly communicate with parents through reports, conferences, and ongoing dialogue to foster transparent and supportive relationships.
  • Collaborate positively and professionally with all members of the school's leadership team to enhance student learning, staff development, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Model professionalism, collaboration, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement in all interactions with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Actively engage in the school community by participating in events that strengthen relationships during and outside of school hours.
  • Share expertise, enthusiasm, and leadership in co-curricular activities that enhance student learning and enrich school culture.
  • Demonstrate effective, research-informed pedagogical practices in literacy and numeracy throughout the primary years.
  • Exhibit a shared commitment to the school’s mission and vision, working collaboratively to support its long-term goals.
