Role Purpose
The Student Support Coordinator is a vital member of middle leadership, committed to ensuring that all students can access the curriculum and thrive, regardless of their starting points. In this role, you will guide a multidisciplinary team of experts to deliver extensive support across both the Primary and Secondary phases. Furthermore, you will be a key participant in the Safeguarding team, helping to uphold a strong protective culture within the school. While this job description outlines the primary responsibilities, it is anticipated that additional tasks may be assigned as needed due to the nature of the position.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordination & Personnel Management
- Effectively lead the Learning Support and EAL departments.
- Oversee and assess the performance of School Counsellors and EAL teachers.
- Collaborate with the VP Teaching & Learning to integrate inclusive teaching practices throughout the school curriculum.
- Partner with the VP Secondary & Science to manage department-specific interventions, ensuring that EAL and SEND students can safely engage with technical language and practical laboratory activities.
- SEND, EAL & Admissions
- Oversee the identification, referral, and assessment processes for students with SEND and EAL needs, from Primary through to Secondary.
- Admissions: Support the admissions process for new students by reviewing applications and conducting assessments to identify their support requirements.
- Maintain the Whole School Provision Map and ensure that all Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are of high quality and regularly reviewed.
- Coordinate with external specialists, including Educational Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists.
- Exam Access Arrangements (Cambridge)
- Exam Documentation: Ensure timely preparation and submission of all necessary documentation for students needing additional support or access arrangements (such as extra time) for Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, or A Level examinations.
- Collaborate with the Exams Officer to confirm that all approved accommodations are implemented during official assessments.
- Data Analytics (GL PASS & Academic Progress)
- Lead the analysis of the GL PASS (Pupil Attitudes to Self and School) assessment.
- Engage with senior leaders to discuss PASS data and identify students experiencing low self-esteem or feelings of disconnection from school, designing targeted interventions as needed.
- Cross-reference PASS findings with attainment data to identify "hidden" barriers to learning.
- Provide the Principal with termly reports on the effectiveness of interventions related to student wellbeing.
- Safeguarding & Teaching
- Act as a member of the Whole School Safeguarding Team, participating in case management discussions.
- Assist the DSL in ensuring adherence to statutory requirements while maintaining accurate records.
- Teaching Requirement: Depending on the qualifications of the candidate and the school’s needs, there may be a requirement to teach; this will be discussed and agreed upon before final appointment.
Person Specification (Essential Criteria)
- Education: Qualified Teacher status alongside a recognized SEND qualification.
- Experience: Extensive experience coordinating EAL/SEND within an international school setting.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage diverse teams, including clinical staff such as Counsellors.
