IBDP/HSD Design Technology Specialist Teacher
The Hamilton International School is seeking a talented Design Technology Specialist Teacher to join our expanding Secondary team. This position offers an exciting chance for a committed educator to stimulate creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among students in Grades 6–12, particularly within our High School Diploma and IB Diploma programs.
About the Role
The preferred candidate will deliver exceptional instruction in Design Technology, engage in curriculum design, and enrich the educational journey through hands-on design projects, experiential learning, and the application of modern technologies. Their mission will be to ignite passion, purpose, and potential within each student.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Design Technology to students in Grades 6–8 and Grades 9–12 (HSD / IBDP / A Level pathways).
- Provide inspiring and challenging lessons that foster innovation and encourage high achievement.
- Develop and create curriculum materials and resources for the department.
- Assess, monitor, and document student progress, using data to improve outcomes.
- Customize instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners while promoting growth for all.
- Maintain effective communication with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Ensure high standards of classroom management, behavior, and safety are upheld.
- Actively engage in extracurricular activities and contribute to the wider school community.
- Demonstrate professional conduct, safeguarding practices, and embody the values of Hamilton.
What We’re Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field pertinent to Design Technology.
- A valid teaching certification that adheres to the Qatar MoEHE requirements.
- A minimum of 3 years of successful experience teaching Design Technology.
- Experience in teaching Design Technology at High School Diploma, IB DP, or A Level (experience with IB DP DT is highly desirable).
- A robust understanding of modern DT pedagogy, including product design, digital tools, materials, and design processes.
- Outstanding communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- A reflective, collaborative, and innovative educator committed to continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in English is essential.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- A thorough understanding of DT curriculum and assessment practices.
- Ability to design engaging, hands-on, project-based learning experiences.
- Familiarity with digital design tools and DT workshop equipment is preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills and the capability to motivate students.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics.
- High levels of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
