ROLE SUMMARY:

Vilamoura International School (CIV), a premier educational establishment located in southern Portugal, provides a comprehensive educational experience encompassing Pre-School, Primary, and Secondary Education through both national and international curricula, including Cambridge programs.

CIV is committed to maintaining academic excellence and is on the lookout for a **Head of Secondary**, commencing in August for the upcoming academic year. The successful applicant will offer strategic and operational leadership for the Secondary School, guarantee high standards of teaching and learning, mentor educators, and facilitate the academic, social, and personal development of every student. This position will also involve teaching responsibilities within the Secondary curriculum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide leadership and management for the Secondary School, encompassing curriculum planning, execution, and assessment.
- Deliver classes with a focus on high-quality instruction and student engagement.
- Support, mentor, and evaluate teaching staff to encourage professional development and the adoption of best practices.
- Oversee the implementation of international curricula (Cambridge, IB) and ensure they align with school expectations.
- Monitor and report on student progress, utilizing data to enhance learning outcomes.
- Coordinate examination and assessment schedules within the Secondary School.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and academically enriching environment.
- Collaborate with leadership, parents, and external partners to advance the school's vision and values.
- Manage daily operations, including scheduling, staff allocation, and resource management.
- Engage in leadership meetings, strategic planning, and professional development efforts.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

- A degree in Education, Leadership, or a related discipline (a Master's degree is preferred).
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a Secondary School, ideally within an international or IB/Cambridge context.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international curricula and assessment frameworks.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
- A student-centered philosophy, dedicated to academic, personal, and social growth.
- The capacity to lead, inspire, and motivate a diverse team of educators while upholding high standards.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and professional integrity.
- A commitment to fostering international-mindedness, intercultural understanding, and values-driven education.
