If so, consider joining our Federation as a Casual Caretaker, where your efforts will play a crucial role in the effective operation of our facilities and the success of our students. Working under the supervision of the Site Manager, you will be responsible for maintenance, security, cleaning, and general upkeep primarily at Baysgarth School.
This diverse and fulfilling position offers the opportunity to positively influence our educational setting on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure security and safety by managing routine opening/closing, conducting alarm tests, and responding to emergencies.
- Carry out general repairs, basic plumbing, carpentry, maintenance of doors and furniture, and minor electrical work.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the grounds, playgrounds, and allotments, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Assist with school lettings and extracurricular events, collaborating with external users and contractors.
- Operate heating and boiler systems to guarantee a comfortable and safe environment.
- Monitor cleaning standards, maintain equipment, and oversee deliveries and supplies.
- React to emergencies and independently address urgent maintenance concerns.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Practical DIY abilities: plumbing, joinery, basic electrical work, and furniture repair.
- Understanding of health & safety regulations (COSHH, moving & handling, hygiene).
- Capability to safely operate cleaning equipment and small machinery.
- Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing needs.
The ideal candidate should be prepared for flexibility, as there may be occasions where you will need to work at either Baysgarth School or Castledyke Primary School, supporting students across the Federation. Weekend work may also be required.
