Southpointe is in search of a dynamic, collaborative, and enthusiastic teacher who is dedicated to inquiry and concept-based education. The Junior School Classroom Teacher role will report to the Junior School Principal or designated representative, with the position set to begin on August 27, 2026.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Collaborate with colleagues to create and support an inquiry-driven, transdisciplinary learning program in line with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
- Establish caring, respectful, and trusting relationships with students and families, recognizing the integral role of partnership in education.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes student well-being, voice, and mutual respect.
- Effectively integrate purposeful and age-appropriate technology to enhance teaching, learning, and student involvement.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to the International Baccalaureate, the Primary Years Programme, and other school initiatives.
- Design, prepare, and deliver impactful learning experiences that stimulate curiosity, creativity, and genuine engagement.
- Choose and modify instructional strategies, resources, and learning experiences to cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Develop and implement a variety of authentic assessments that guide instruction, support student growth, and provide timely, clear feedback to students and families.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive records of student learning and progress for teaching, assessment, and reporting purposes.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents through reports, conferences, and ongoing dialogue to nurture transparent and supportive relationships.
- Collaborate professionally and positively with all members of the school’s leadership team to enhance student learning, staff development, and school-wide initiatives.
- Exemplify professionalism, collaboration, and a strong dedication to continuous improvement in all interactions with colleagues, students, and families.
- Actively contribute to the school's community by participating in events that build relationships during and outside of school hours.
- Share expertise, enthusiasm, and leadership in co-curricular activities that enrich student learning and strengthen the school culture.
- Demonstrate strong, research-informed pedagogical practices in literacy and numeracy throughout the primary years.
- Show a shared commitment to the school’s mission and vision, collaborating to support its long-term growth and sustainability.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the school’s Co-Curricular and/or Athletic programs for two out of three terms.
- Fulfill additional teaching or supervisory duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Education or equivalent;
- BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification;
- Preference may be given to candidates with 1-2 years of teaching experience and those with PYP background;
- Valid First-Aid certificate.

Salary
Southpointe's teacher salary grid is set at 6% above the Delta public school salary grid across all levels. For the 2025-2026 school year, the annual salary for a full-time teaching position at Southpointe Academy ranges from $68,422 to $116,091, depending on placement within the approved teacher salary grid. The Southpointe salary grid will see an increase at a percentage to be determined for the 2026-2027 school year. Placement on the approved teacher salary grid is determined by qualifications and the length of full-time teaching experience.
