Responsible for: Music and Performing Arts Teacher Role

Main purpose

The teacher will:

Fulfill the professional duties of a teacher and consistently adhere to the standards outlined in the UK and UAE Teachers’ Standards.

Qualifications and Experience


Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).


A required Bachelor's degree along with a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed.).


At least 2 years of successful teaching experience in music and performing arts within the British Curriculum (desirable).


Experience teaching in the UAE (desirable).

Skills and Knowledge


Familiarity with the British National Curriculum.


Understanding of adaptive teaching and learning techniques.


A solid comprehension of how children learn.


Capacity to modify teaching methods to cater to students' needs.


Ability to establish productive working relationships with students.


Awareness of guidelines and requirements regarding child safeguarding.


Knowledge of effective behavior management techniques.


Competent ICT skills, particularly in utilizing technology to enhance learning.


Ethical and safe use of AI to support educational activities.


Awareness of UAE policies and inspection frameworks (desirable).

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching


Design and deliver well-structured lessons to assigned classes, adhering to the school’s pedagogical framework, plans, curriculum, and schemes of work.


Assess, monitor, document, and report on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of assigned students, utilizing assessment effectively.


Tailor teaching to address the strengths and needs of students.


Establish high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.


Encourage good progress and positive outcomes among students.


Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and understanding of the curriculum.


Engage in preparations for external assessments for students.


Utilize culturally relevant resources that comply with UAE laws and standards.

Whole-school organisation, strategy and development


Contribute to the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices, and procedures to support the school’s vision and values.


Make a meaningful contribution to the broader life and ethos of the school.


Collaborate with others on curriculum and student development to achieve coordinated outcomes.


Provide coverage in cases where another teacher is unable to teach unexpectedly.


Lead assigned extracurricular activities before, during, and after school hours.

Foster the safety and well-being of students.


Maintain discipline and good order among students, effectively managing behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment.

Management of staff and resources


Direct and oversee support staff assigned to them, and where appropriate, other teachers.


Contribute to the recruitment and professional development of fellow teachers and support staff.

Safeguarding


Act in accordance with statutory safeguarding guidelines (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education) and the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies.


Collaborate with the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to promote the welfare of students, including sharing concerns when necessary.


Advocate for safeguarding all students in the school consistently.

Other areas of responsibility


Ensure complete compliance with all regulations, policies, and frameworks mandated by the KHDA, BSO, and the UAE Ministry of Education.


Assist the leadership team in preparing for and carrying out the KHDA inspection process, developing and adhering to post-inspection action plans.


Contribute to the success of the UAE National Agenda.


Maintain professional and positive communication with KHDA and Government Officials, representing the school at required forums and meetings as requested by the Principal.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
