About This Role
SNA-HCMC is on the lookout for a dedicated MYP Physical Education Teacher to start in AUGUST 2026. The ideal applicant will have at least 2 years of experience teaching within the MYP framework. As we expand our Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) program, participation in these activities will be essential.
It is important for potential candidates to understand that SNA-HCMC holds affiliation with CIS and is fully accredited by WASC, placing significant importance on child protection and safeguarding during the recruitment process. In line with this principle, SNA-HCMC follows the UN Convention on the Rights of The Child. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and evaluate engaging Physical & Health Education (PHE) lessons that comply with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) standards.
- Develop a curriculum that promotes physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle choices while fostering inquiry-based learning and self-reflection.
- Support students in setting personal goals, evaluating their performance, and developing Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills such as self-management, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive atmosphere where all students are motivated to evolve into well-rounded individuals.
- Assess student progress based on MYP criteria, providing constructive feedback that promotes continuous improvement.
- Integrate global contexts into lessons, helping students link physical activity, well-being, and the wider world.
- Oversee and maintain PE equipment, gym facilities, and outdoor spaces, ensuring their safe and effective use.
- Promote the values of the IB learner profile (e.g., principled, risk-takers, balanced) through PE instruction and student involvement.
- Contribute to the school community by coaching sports teams, taking part in inter-school competitions, and leading extracurricular initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across various subjects to foster a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to student education.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to IB MYP, physical education, and effective teaching strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or a related discipline is essential; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- A valid teaching license or certification is required.
- In-depth knowledge of the IB MYP frameworks and inquiry-based teaching practices.
- Proven ability to design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons catering to diverse student needs.
- Strong classroom management and student supervision skills.
- Proficient in integrating technology and digital resources into teaching practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Creative, collaborative, and proactive in enriching school life and CCAs.
- Committed to child safeguarding and able to provide valid background checks.
- Willingness to engage in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and student activities.
