About This Role

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Level 1 SEN to become a valuable member of our exceptional team at Pear Tree High School.

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 35 hours per week, during term time only, plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary, calculated on a pro-rata basis, is £22,004, with a full-time equivalent of £25,583 at Grade 3. The successful candidate is expected to commence work as soon as the necessary pre-employment checks are completed.

We are searching for an individual who comprehends the Teaching Assistant role, collaborates well with classroom staff, possesses basic child development knowledge, and demonstrates strong literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or higher. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to upholding professional standards and continuously enhancing their knowledge and skills. A commitment to teamwork and a focus on ongoing improvement to foster student success are essential.

This position provides a wonderful chance to work in a Special Educational Needs School, under the guidance of experienced teachers. Experience working with children or young people with communication challenges or complex learning difficulties is highly advantageous.

Main Purpose of the Job:
You will contribute to a team dedicated to providing exceptional education that helps students become happy, confident adults. Your role will involve supporting teaching and learning throughout the school, assisting with pupil management and resource allocation, and working under the guidance of the class teacher, department lead, and senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with small groups of children under the teacher's supervision to implement Individual Learning Plans.
- Provide regular updates on children's progress to the class teacher and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in supervising small groups of pupils for brief periods when the teacher is absent.
- Recognize and support diversity, ensuring all pupils have equal opportunities to learn and develop.
- Participate in training to refine relevant learning strategies and facilitate student progress.
- Support the performance management process and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Communicate effectively in spoken English to provide advice and support.
