About Akademeia:
Akademeia High School is an academically-selective institution located in Warsaw, offering IGCSEs and A Levels alongside Akademeia Assessed Courses. Most of our students are preparing to attend prestigious universities such as Oxbridge, Russell Group, and Ivy League institutions, as well as renowned architecture, art, and music schools. With a selective admissions process and A Level classes conducted in a seminar-style format, our school operates on a pre-university model. We provide an extensive scholarship program, dedicating 10% of our places to merit-based, partial, and full scholarships. In collaboration with the Akademeia High School Foundation, we also support various educational outreach and community engagement initiatives.
About the job:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most intellectually curious young minds and inspire them through engaging and innovative lessons in small class sizes of up to 12 students.
You will join a committed team of 10 dedicated mathematicians who regularly collaborate to share resources and strategies to engage our students effectively. Our focus on a student-centered approach nurtures critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing students for academic success and lifelong learning.
The Mathematics department is vibrant, offering frequent CPD workshops and departmental meetings. We embrace a variety of teaching methods and actively promote peer learning through lesson observations and constructive feedback. We follow the Pearson International GCSE and A Level curricula, and in Year 11, we also teach GCSE Statistics and a pre-A Level program designed by our team to ensure our students are thoroughly equipped for A Level studies.
As the largest department in the school, we consistently achieve exceptional results. In 2023, one of our students attained the Highest Mark in the world in the International A Level in Mathematics, and in 2024, another achieved a perfect score of 200/200 on the iGCSE. Many of our students progress to elite universities, including Warwick University (Mathematics), Imperial College (Mathematics and Engineering), LSE (Mathematics), Oxford University (Engineering), and Princeton and MIT (Engineering). We also encourage participation in esteemed mathematics competitions such as the UKMT and British Mathematical Olympiad, where our students frequently earn gold medals and merit awards.
About you:

The full-time teaching commitment is 20 hours of instruction per week, with ample time allocated in the timetable for effective preparation, marking, and report writing. Teachers are expected to engage in pastoral care (tutoring a small group) or support student clubs and extracurricular activities. The regular school week runs from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend events (e.g., open days, school trips) that teachers may be required to attend.
