About This Role

Teacher of Mathematics

We are in search of an enthusiastic and academically-focused teacher to become a part of our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join Akademeia High School, an established international institution now in its ninth year. You will be integrated into a supportive and inclusive community where both students and staff are empowered and flourish while sharing a love for learning.

About Akademeia:

Akademeia High School is a selective academic school located in Warsaw, offering IGCSEs and A Levels along with Akademeia Assessed Courses. A significant number of our students are preparing for admission to prominent universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Russell Group institutions, and Ivy League schools, in addition to renowned architecture, art, and music academies. With a rigorous admissions process and A Level classes modeled on undergraduate seminars, our school employs a pre-university educational approach. We also maintain a strong scholarship program, allocating 10% of spots for merit-based, partial, and full scholarships. Alongside the Akademeia High School Foundation, we are involved in various educational outreach and community engagement initiatives.

About the job:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most intellectually curious young individuals, inspiring them through engaging and creative lessons in small classes of up to 12 students.

You will collaborate with a dedicated team of 10 passionate mathematicians who frequently share resources and strategies to engage our students. Our focus on a student-centered approach cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, equipping students for academic achievement and lifelong learning.

The mathematics department is vibrant, hosting regular CPD workshops and departmental meetings; we embrace a variety of teaching methodologies and actively promote peer-to-peer learning through lesson observations and constructive feedback. We adhere to the Pearson International GCSE and A Level curricula, and in Year 11, we also teach GCSE Statistics and a pre-A Level program designed by our faculty to ensure that students are thoroughly prepared for A Level studies.

As the largest department in the school, we consistently achieve impressive results. In 2023, one student earned the highest mark globally in the International A Level in Mathematics, while in 2024 another student achieved a perfect score of 200/200 on the iGCSE. Many of our students progress to prestigious universities, including Warwick University (Mathematics), Imperial College (Mathematics and Engineering), LSE (Mathematics), Oxford University (Engineering), and Princeton and MIT (Engineering). We also encourage participation in esteemed mathematics competitions like the UKMT and British Mathematical Olympiad, where our students regularly receive gold medals and merit awards.

About you:

We are looking for a dedicated Mathematics Teacher who is excited to contribute to our team's achievements and introduce innovative ideas to our department. If you are committed to making a meaningful impact and wish to be part of a collaborative, high-performing team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The full-time teaching commitment involves 20 hours of instruction each week, with ample time allocated in the schedule for effective preparation, grading, and report writing. Teachers are expected to engage in pastoral care (tutoring a small group) or support student clubs and co-curricular activities. The standard school week runs from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend events (such as open days and school trips) that teachers may be required to attend.

Employee benefits include 12 weeks of paid vacation, access to private health insurance and mental health resources, subsidized lunches, a professional development scheme, and support for further qualifications. Participation in extracurricular activities, such as afternoon clubs, supervision of students, and other initiatives is encouraged.
