ROLE SUMMARY:

King's College School, Cascais, a distinguished member of the Inspired Education Group, is a leading international institution located in the Lisbon area. We are seeking a dedicated and highly qualified Teacher of Chemistry to join our faculty for the upcoming academic year. This is an exciting chance to be part of our Science Department, where you will deliver outstanding lessons and inspire students throughout the Senior School. Candidates must be able to teach Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in a combined course) for Years 7 and 8, and we especially welcome applicants who can also teach either Biology or Physics at the iGCSE level, in addition to Chemistry up to IBDP.

In this position, you will provide engaging Chemistry lessons that foster scientific inquiry, analytical thinking, and hands-on laboratory skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver dynamic and well-organized Chemistry lessons that align with Key Stage 3, iGCSE, and IB Diploma Programme standards, as well as the academic expectations of the school.
  • Instruct combined Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) for students in Years 7 and 8.
  • Promote scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and practical laboratory skills through high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Thoroughly prepare students for both internal and external assessments, ensuring compliance with iGCSE and IBDP standards.
  • Accurately assess, track, and report on student progress while maintaining rigorous academic standards.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of schemes of work, resources, and assessment practices.
  • Collaborate with fellow Science Department colleagues to promote effective teaching practices and ongoing professional growth.
  • Employ inclusive teaching strategies that accommodate students of all abilities, including those with diverse learning needs.
  • Enhance the science co-curricular program through clubs, competitions, field trips, and other enrichment activities.
  • Support the pastoral care of students, encouraging their wellbeing, resilience, and enthusiasm for scientific learning.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A recognized teaching qualification along with a degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • Experience in teaching Chemistry at the iGCSE and IBDP levels, as well as combined Science for Years 7 and 8.
  • The ability to teach either Biology or Physics at iGCSE level in addition to Chemistry.
  • Strong subject knowledge combined with a passion for inspiring students to appreciate and comprehend science.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
  • A reflective and innovative approach, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Experience in an international school environment or familiarity with international curricula is highly desirable.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
