Subject Director - English Subject Development
About This Role
Summary:
The Subject Director plays a vital role within the Organization's academic leadership team, tasked with the management of curriculum development, the quality of teaching, and professional growth for educators focusing on the English subject. By fostering collaboration across campuses and integrating interdisciplinary approaches, the Subject Director guarantees that the teaching of this subject adheres to international education standards (including IG, A-Level, IB, DSE, etc.) while continually improving student learning outcomes and fostering innovation.
Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development
- Spearhead the planning, creation, and revision of subject curricula, ensuring a combination of academic rigor, a global outlook, and local relevance.
- Create interdisciplinary initiatives (such as STEAM, PBL, etc.) that respond to educational research trends and student requirements, encouraging innovative teaching methodologies.
- Supervise the application of the curriculum, consistently evaluating and improving course materials, teaching resources, and assessment tools.
2. Teaching Support and Teacher Development
- Offer professional development, teaching support, and constructive feedback through classroom observations to subject teachers across campuses, thereby enhancing overall teaching standards.
- Build a community of subject teachers by organizing research initiatives, workshops, and resource-sharing platforms to promote the exchange of effective practices.
- Aid in the recruitment and assessment of subject teachers and engage in their professional development planning.
3. Academic Quality Management
- Establish teaching standards and assessment frameworks for the subject, monitoring the execution of teaching across campuses to ensure that learning targets are achieved.
- Evaluate student performance data and feedback, driving improvements in teaching strategies and intervention plans.
- Regularly provide subject development reports to management, including analyses of effectiveness, challenges faced, and proposed improvements.
4. Interdisciplinary and Cross-Campus Collaboration
- Work alongside other Subject Directors to create interdisciplinary courses or projects, fostering a comprehensive educational approach and the development of essential skills.
- Coordinate resources across campuses to address shared challenges in subject teaching, ensuring consistency in the curriculum.
- Represent the Organization in international education forums or collaborative projects, enhancing the subject area's influence.
Qualifications and Experience:
Educational Background and Experience:
- A Master's degree or higher, ideally in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years in roles such as subject group leader, curriculum developer, or teacher trainer.
- Knowledge of international curriculum frameworks (such as IG, A-Level, IB, DSE) and assessment standards.
Core Competencies:
- Exceptional skills in curriculum design, with the ability to incorporate educational technologies (such as AI and digital tools) to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities, proficient in cross-cultural communication and managing diverse groups.
- Data-driven decision-making skills, adept at guiding teaching improvements through the analysis of learning outcomes.
- Proficiency in both Chinese and English (written and spoken), excelling in a bilingual work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in multinational educational institutions or managing multiple campuses is advantageous.
- Published research in subject teaching or involvement in international education projects is a plus.
