About This Role
Chief John Keenatch High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join its team for the 2026-2027 school year. Located in Big River First Nation, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans across various subjects to facilitate student learning.
- Evaluate and assess student comprehension and performance on the curriculum.
- Communicate with students and parents about educational progress and concerns.
- Cultivate a nurturing, inclusive, and safe educational environment that promotes student development.
- Create lesson plans and instructional methods that adhere to school standards.
- Conduct assessments to track student progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Establish an engaging learning atmosphere tailored to the individual needs of each student.
- Plan and coordinate activities such as quizzes, competitions, and group discussions to enhance lesson delivery and material.
- Effectively manage student behavior and classroom activities.
Qualifications:
- Strong scheduling abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- A Bachelor of Education degree and a valid Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate.
- Proficient in classroom management techniques.
- Capability to teach students with varying abilities.
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Curriculum.
- Cross-cultural experience is an asset.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Must be able to confirm previous teaching experience, if applicable.
