We are seeking a dedicated SENDCo to lead and develop our SEND provision, ensuring students with additional needs have the opportunities, guidance and support required to achieve their full potential.
This is a rewarding leadership role where you will work closely with staff, families and external agencies to remove barriers to learning, champion inclusion and ensure every pupil receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
About the Role
As SENDCo, you will play a central role in promoting inclusion and ensuring that students with special educational needs and disabilities receive high-quality support throughout their educational journey. Working closely with pupils, families, staff and external agencies, you will coordinate effective provision, oversee statutory responsibilities and help remove barriers to learning so that every student can participate fully in school life and achieve success.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who is passionate about inclusion and committed to improving outcomes, wellbeing and life chances for children and young people with SEND.
Key aspects of the role include:
- To work with colleagues to set ambitious targets for raising achievement among pupils with SEN
- To ensure robust tracking systems are in place to collect and interpret specific pupil
- To develop understanding of learning needs amongst staff and the importance of raising achievement among pupils
- To effectively write EHCP requests for those students who are identified as requiring high needs support and funding.
- To attend Annual Review meetings, parent evening consultations keeping parents informed about their child’s progress
- To ensure that the support in place is necessary, evidence based, rooted in research and promotes independence
- To support the maintenance of an up to date SEN register of students identified as having special and additional educational needs
- To offer advice, guidance and support to staff with regards to understanding the needs of
- SEND students and how to work most effectively with SEN students
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Good Honours Degree/Post Graduate Qualification
- Relevant postgraduate studies.
- Management and experience of curriculum innovation
- NASENCO Qualification

Orchard Park High School is an 11 to 16 mixed school. The school is situated in Shirley on the border of Croydon and Bromley. The school is ambitious for its students, and provides a happy, caring, and inclusive environment in which all children can thrive.
