About This Role

Primary Teacher (Expat)

Main Responsibilities:

At SISC, the primary role of the teacher is to educate a classroom of up to 25 students, depending on the grade. Instruction for grades 1 to 5 adheres to the Cambridge Primary Curriculum Framework.

A teacher must:

  • Have a profound understanding of the Cambridge International curriculum standards and experience in addressing achievement gaps.
  • Design engaging and innovative lessons that promote students' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Enthusiastically incorporate technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster understanding and communication in a culturally diverse educational setting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons that inspire students’ enthusiasm for learning.
  • Achieve the learning goals of the Cambridge International Curriculum through its content, structure, and teaching methods.
  • Create and implement a thorough, well-structured learning program that reflects contemporary pedagogical practices and caters to individual skill levels.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and learning activities for students, aligning them with national, local, and school educational standards while considering developmental behaviors.
  • Design and execute cross-curricular teaching and learning experiences.
  • Provide high-quality, engaging instruction through discussions, direct teaching, demonstrations, and independent practice using a variety of effective methods.
  • Differentiating lessons as needed to ensure all students can engage with the curriculum, regardless of disabilities, instructional levels, English proficiency, or subject interests.
  • Encourage an atmosphere of active and authentic learning by employing diverse teaching strategies to meet all students' needs.
  • Assess student performance based on established standards through various approaches, including observation, performance tasks, or standardized testing.
  • Monitor student attendance and promptly report any absences to the designated office.
  • Choose appropriate materials and resources for teaching mathematics while fostering creative approaches to learning.
  • Organize and coordinate activities for both the school and the community, helping students effectively showcase and present their work.
  • Track each student’s progress and keep both students and parents informed of updates through Managua and other communication channels.
  • Take responsibility for supporting students participating in internal or external competitions or activities.
  • Develop, organize, and lead the School’s Co-Curricular/After-School Programs.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure the successful preparation of events and activities with minimal disruption to the regular schedule.
  • Attend subject or area association meetings as necessary and maintain professional relationships. Actively engage in the enhancement of your subject area by utilizing current teaching methods and curriculum resources.
  • Be available for additional duties as required within the scope of the role and familiarize yourself with the Southbridge calendar of events, including class activities.
  • Act as a positive role model for students, parents, colleagues, and the broader Southbridge International School Cambodia community.
  • Comply with and uphold all policies and procedures of Southbridge International School Cambodia (SISC), ensuring actions do not compromise others' health and safety within the school.
  • Demonstrate foundational knowledge expected of a professional regarding anti-discrimination principles and equal opportunity legislation, articulating the importance of diversity and equal opportunity.
  • Show commitment to promoting best practices concerning student well-being and child safety by implementing effective strategies.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
