As part of our innovative organizational structure, we are looking for an exceptional professional to take on the role of **English as an Additional Language (EAL) Learning Support Assistant (LSA)**. The chosen candidate will have a proven record of effective support gained in the UK or internationally, along with excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
**Objectives of the Role:**
The primary goal is to provide specialized support to students for whom English is an additional language, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and reaching their full potential. The EAL LSA will work collaboratively with teachers, the EAL Coordinator, and other support personnel to deliver customized interventions and assistance.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Support for Pupils:**
- Offer one-on-one and small group assistance to EAL students within the classroom and through targeted interventions.
- Aid in assessing the language proficiency and learning requirements of EAL students.
- Create and apply strategies to facilitate language acquisition and academic achievement.
- Cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere, encouraging the integration of EAL students into the school community.
- Motivate and assist EAL students in engaging with extracurricular activities and school events.
**Support for Teachers:**
- Partner with classroom teachers to design and implement differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of EAL students.
- Provide teachers with insights regarding the progress and challenges faced by EAL students.
- Assist in preparing teaching materials and resources that are accessible for EAL students.
- Support teachers in applying effective classroom management techniques to promote a positive learning environment.
**Support for the Curriculum:**
- Adapt and adjust curriculum materials to ensure accessibility for EAL students.
- Utilize ICT and other resources effectively to enhance EAL students' learning experiences.
- Facilitate learning activities and interventions that align with the school's curriculum and EAL policy.
**Professional Development:**
- Engage in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting EAL students.
- Stay updated on best practices and recent developments in EAL education.
**Communication and Collaboration:**
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents and guardians of EAL students to provide updates on progress and involve them in their child’s education.
- Collaborate with other support staff, including SENCO, to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting EAL students.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other school events as necessary.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
- Relevant qualifications in education or support work (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools).
- Experience working with EAL students or in a multicultural educational environment is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with diverse needs.
- Proficiency in **Russian or French**, in addition to English, is desirable.
