Mathematics Teacher Job Opening (MYP, DP) for August 2026

Job Type: Full-Time, two-year initial contract (due to parental leave).

Position Overview:

At Thuringia International School, you will play a vital role in offering outstanding teaching and learning experiences aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, specifically within the Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP). Your responsibilities include collaboratively designing and implementing engaging lesson plans, evaluating student progress, and providing timely, constructive feedback that empowers students to become active learners who make meaningful contributions to society.

You will prepare students for success in the MYP and DP Programs, ensuring they develop a critical understanding of the Nature of Mathematics and the skills necessary to engage effectively in their academic, professional, and community pursuits, enabling them to interpret, utilize, and evaluate data proficiently.

Qualifications and Experience Required:


A recognized degree and teaching qualifications endorsed by the State of Thüringen’s education authorities.


Previous teaching experience and a clear understanding of the associated responsibilities.


Proficiency in both spoken and written English.


Familiarity with the IB curriculum, particularly the MYP and DP.


A commitment to ongoing professional development.

Core Responsibilities:


Develop and deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with the IB curriculum framework, ensuring the holistic development of students consistent with the school’s Mission and Vision, as well as our definition of High Quality Teaching and Learning.


Provide structured instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners, fostering critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and interdisciplinary connections while encouraging a global perspective and potential for positive impact.


Assess and evaluate student performance through the administration and grading of assessments, assignments, and examinations, adhering to IB assessment standards and reflecting the school’s commitment to critical thinking, creativity, and self-efficacy.


Deliver timely, actionable feedback that outlines clear next steps for student improvement.


Establish an organized and respectful classroom environment that facilitates learning and well-being, where students are inspired to think creatively and insightfully, recognize real-world applications of their learning, and collaborate with empathy.


Collaborate with the Student Support team to provide tailored assistance to students, including those with diagnosed learning or language needs, ensuring their educational requirements are met and enabling them to think and act critically, rationally, creatively, and independently.


Work alongside other educators, teaching assistants, and school staff to enhance teaching and learning, striving to improve overall educational outcomes.


Effectively utilize available IT and AI resources and guide students in doing the same, while maintaining academic integrity and proper source attribution.


Participate in school meetings, professional development sessions, training workshops, and any scheduled information and parent conferences throughout the academic year.


Maintain open and effective communication with parents via our chosen digital platform, keeping them informed about their child's progress and any challenges they may face.


Engage in school events and be involved with the local community as a representative of ThIS to promote the school’s values and Mission.
