About This Role
Key Responsibilities include: Uphold and promote the principles and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values. Deliver the designated curriculum, showcasing accurate and current knowledge of both the curriculum and subject content. Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students. Develop and employ suitable materials and create a conducive classroom environment to accommodate various learning styles. Provide written evidence of planning and preparation upon request. Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more. Ensure compliance with GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times. Teach assigned students based on their unique needs, using tailored teaching strategies that address diverse abilities, such as late-entry students, ESL learners, those with lower academic skills, and gifted individuals. Assign and evaluate student work. Assess, document, and report on students' academic growth, progress, and achievements, utilizing assessments to tailor the curriculum to meet individual student requirements. Demonstrate proficiency in using media and technology within the classroom. Support students’ overall progress and well-being, offering guidance on educational issues. Engage with external stakeholders when necessary (e.g., Ministry of Education officials). Participate in appraisal and Performance Management processes and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Collaborate with colleagues to prepare and develop teaching materials, resources, course content, and pastoral care arrangements. Engage in and lead co-curricular and extra-curricular programs within the school when appropriate. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences. Oversee and promote safe and appropriate student behavior. Develop and execute strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive conduct. Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a passion for learning. Assist in organizing school events and functions (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days, etc.). Regularly communicate with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents informed of their children's progress while maintaining confidentiality regarding student information. Demonstrate initiative and commitment beyond regular working hours when tasks require additional effort. Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed. Carry out additional duties as assigned by direct and dotted line managers/supervisors.
