About This Role

We are actively seeking a Secondary School IGCSE/A Level Business Studies teacher who will also cover some KS3 Humanities classes. The role is slated to begin on Friday, August 21, 2026.
IBSB OVERVIEW
Located in the heart of the city, IBSB has built a reputation for excellence in both academics and athletics. It is the first British DfE-inspected school in Romania, the first international institution to be accredited by the Romanian Ministry of Education, and a fully accredited member of COBIS & AoBSO. Furthermore, IBSB is celebrated as the first fully accredited HPL school in Romania and the first NACE Challenge Award School in the country.
Following an ISI inspection in September 2022, IBSB received an 'Excellent' rating for the 'Quality of Education' provided. Impressively, 57% of our IGCSE students secured A-A* grades, and 95% of graduates received offers from top-tier universities globally. Currently, our school serves approximately 500 students, with 65% being Romanian and 35% international, representing over 30 countries.
LIFE IN ROMANIA
Romania stands out as one of Europe’s most desirable places to live and work. The local population is known for their warmth and hospitality, with many being well-educated and fluent in several languages, including English.
The country experiences four distinct seasons, boasting beautiful beaches, one of the last remaining mountain wilderness areas in Europe, and numerous ski resorts located just over 90 minutes from Bucharest. Explore charming old towns with cobblestone streets, a plethora of castles and monasteries, and enjoy more sunny days than rainy ones. King Charles III has two residences in Romania and has often referred to it as one of his favorite places— it was the first destination he visited following his coronation.
Centrally positioned within the EU, Romania offers affordable air travel, with budget airlines like Ryanair and Wizzair providing flights to major cities for under 100 euros when booked early, including return trips to the UK. Generally, individuals can save a considerable portion of their monthly income, often more than in Spain, Italy, Greece, and other Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.
LIFE IN BUCHAREST
As the capital city, Bucharest is safe and well-maintained, featuring a dependable public metro and tram system, with a monthly pass costing around 20 euros (students enjoy free travel). The city is safe for evening walks, and weekends are filled with various activities. Shopping malls are plentiful, offering a wide range of Western brands and dining options at prices significantly lower than in Western Europe, allowing your budget to stretch further.
International educators usually earn 2-3 times the average local salary, which facilitates saving. Dining out is also quite affordable, with a two-course meal and a drink costing around 15 euros, encouraging many of our international staff to enjoy dining out frequently.
Additionally, teachers have the potential to save enough for a deposit on their own apartment by the end of their first contract, a goal many of our staff have successfully achieved, thus avoiding rental costs.
TEACHING AT IBSB
Students at IBSB generally exhibit capabilities above the UK average, making teaching an enriching experience. The school provides substantial support from both the administration and parents— we are fortunate to have a highly supportive Parent Association, who recently organized a surprise morning tea for the staff to express appreciation for our dedication during the first half of Term 1a.
