We are currently looking for a Head of Safeguarding to join our committed Safeguarding team.
Position Summary:
The Head of Safeguarding will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for all safeguarding and child protection initiatives at Stamford American International School. This role entails ensuring that our safeguarding systems, policies, and practices meet the highest international standards while complying with Cognita’s safeguarding framework and local regulations in Singapore.
The Head of Safeguarding will serve as a prominent and effective leader, fostering a proactive and positive safeguarding culture throughout the school. They will embed safeguarding principles into all aspects of school operations, offering professional guidance to the Safeguarding Team, overseeing case management, and providing expert consultation. This role requires a highly experienced safeguarding professional capable of balancing operational decision-making with strategic planning, ensuring that student safety and well-being remain central to every policy, process, and partnership.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior safeguarding or child protection leadership role, preferably within an international or multi-school setting.
- Proven experience in managing complex safeguarding cases and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence, advise, and build trust at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change, develop strategies, and cultivate a safeguarding culture.
- Comprehensive understanding of child protection frameworks, including handling allegations against adults and conducting risk assessments.
- Strong analytical capabilities and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret safeguarding data and present insights to leadership and governance bodies.
- Sensitivity to work within diverse cultural contexts.
Educational Requirements:
- A degree in social work, child welfare, or counseling; and/or substantial experience in a safeguarding role.
- At least 5 years of experience in a safeguarding position within a school or in partnership with educational institutions. Experience in international schools is preferred.
- Advanced training or certification in child protection/safeguarding leadership.
