Head of Middle School (Years 7–9)
About This Role
We are seeking an energetic and collaborative leader to join our Secondary Leadership Team as the Head of Middle School (Years 7–9). Reporting directly to the Head of Secondary School, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading our Key Stage 3 program and its students. This position requires setting ambitious standards for learning while ensuring that our curriculum provides a solid foundation for advancement into Key Stages 4 and 5. The ideal applicant will work closely with teachers and teams to cultivate a culture that is supportive, engaging, and aspirational.

Key Responsibilities
•
Guide the strategic and daily development of Years 7–9
•
Serve as a member of the Secondary Leadership Team, directing academic and pastoral teams, and assisting students from Years 7–13
•
Work closely with our Head of Pastoral to establish effective and consistent systems for student behavior and wellbeing
•
Collaborate with our Assistant Heads (Teaching & Learning) to promote high standards of teaching and learning, and develop an ambitious, well-rounded Key Stage 3 curriculum
•
Support the school in preparing for accreditation visits and ensure adherence to quality assurance standards
•
Handle complex or sensitive matters involving students and families with professionalism and care
•
Monitor student progress, behavior, and engagement, implementing necessary interventions
•
Foster staff development while maintaining high expectations for teaching and learning
•
Assist the Head of Secondary with the recruitment and onboarding of teachers
•
Ensure the efficient operation of the Middle School, including managing key events, communication, and daily functions
•
Facilitate student transitions from Primary School to Year 7 and into Key Stage 4
The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent)
•
Significant teaching experience in Key Stage 3 in a Secondary School environment
•
Proven leadership experience that positively influences student outcomes
•
Strong understanding of both academic and pastoral frameworks
•
Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
•
A team-oriented approach and commitment to school-wide improvement
