Raffles American School (RAS) invites applications for a dynamic and enthusiastic Chinese Language Teacher (MSHS) to be part of our Chinese department starting in the academic year 2026.
Position Overview
Raffles American School Bangkok is on the lookout for a committed and inspiring Chinese Language Teacher to instruct Mandarin for middle and high school students. The ideal candidate will cultivate a positive and nurturing environment that enhances students' Mandarin skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
The selected teacher will provide exceptional language instruction through well-organized, age-appropriate lessons tailored to the diverse language backgrounds and proficiency levels of students. By encouraging meaningful classroom interactions, employing differentiated instruction, and incorporating cultural learning experiences, the teacher will help students gain confidence and appreciation for the Chinese language and culture.
Additionally, the successful candidate will collaborate with fellow educators to further develop the school’s Chinese language program.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging Mandarin Chinese lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and cater to middle school and high school learners.
- Enhance students’ Mandarin capabilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through effective, age-appropriate teaching methods.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate students with diverse language backgrounds and varying proficiency levels.
- Utilize a variety of teaching techniques such as discussions, collaborative learning, language practice, and task-based activities to promote language acquisition.
- Integrate Chinese culture, traditions, and intercultural understanding into classroom experiences.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress using appropriate assessment methods; maintain accurate records of student learning and communicate updates to parents and colleagues.
- Collaborate with peers to support interdisciplinary learning and student growth.
- Organize and conduct Chinese cultural events, celebrations, and school activities that highlight the Chinese language and culture; actively contribute to the broader school community.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language Education, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Education, Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.
- At least two years of full-time teaching experience in an international middle school and/or high school environment.
- Proven ability to teach Mandarin effectively to secondary students in an international or multicultural context.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills suitable for middle and high school students.
- Holder of a Chinese National Teacher Qualification Certificate and/or International Chinese Language Teacher Certificate (Thai teaching license preferred).
- Preferred experience working with secondary students.
- Familiarity with international language frameworks or secondary Chinese programs (e.g., HSK, IB, IGCSE, AP Chinese) is advantageous.
- Experience incorporating educational technology into language learning is a plus.

We offer competitive salaries for fully qualified and licensed teachers in full-time roles. Please note that there is no additional housing stipend. Candidates will receive reimbursement for their flight to Thailand and will be provided with round-trip airfare to their home country at the end of each contract (for overseas applicants only). RAS will also cover visa and work-permit expenses. Medical, accident, disability, and life insurance are included.
