About This Role

St. Anne’s School, a co-educational independent establishment situated in Madrid, offers a comprehensive British education for students aged one to sixteen, along with the IB Diploma Programme for those aged 16-18. Located in Chamartín, one of Madrid's most prestigious neighborhoods, the school is conveniently accessible from various areas of the city. We are currently seeking passionate and creative educators to join our dedicated team.

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a teacher to instruct IGCSE Business Management and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The successful candidate will engage and inspire students through dynamic lessons that promote their learning and development within both the IBDP and the British curriculum. You will foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry-based learning and academic excellence, supporting students in their educational journey while promoting independent thought. You will work collaboratively with a supportive team of educators and benefit from various professional development opportunities.

Accountabilities:

  • Deliver captivating, well-organized lessons that are in line with the school’s curriculum (British and Diploma Programme), ensuring students comprehend and master the subject.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments, assessments, and exams to support their academic progression.
  • Utilize innovative teaching techniques and instructional methods to cater to diverse learning preferences and abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the curriculum, ensuring alignment with programme standards and objectives.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that appreciates diversity while promoting respect and open-mindedness.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and academic progress, providing regular updates to students, parents, and school administrators.
  • Mentor and guide students on individual projects, such as CAS and the Extended Essay.
  • Serve as a form tutor, responsible for monitoring the emotional and academic wellbeing of students in your form group.
  • Stay updated on the latest educational research and best practices to improve teaching strategies and student outcomes.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and conferences to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with the IB Coordinator, Head of IB, and other faculty members to ensure adherence to IB regulations and maintain the school's status as an authorized IB World School.
  • Contribute to the overall life of the school.

Relationships:

  • Establish strong professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
  • Work closely with the Heads of section, IBDP coordinator, and both teaching and non-teaching staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Regularly communicate with parents regarding student progress, academic goals, and strategies for improvement.
  • Collaborate with support staff, including learning support specialists and counselors, to offer comprehensive academic and personal assistance to students.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with external stakeholders such as IB examiners, universities, and educational organizations to remain engaged with the broader educational community.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field
  • A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
  • Experience with the applicable curricula
  • Familiarity with Cambridge and IB assessment methods
  • The ability to inspire and motivate students, nurturing a passion for the subject and critical thinking
  • A commitment to continuous professional development
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • A strong understanding of student wellbeing and pastoral care

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
