Scope of Responsibility

As a teacher at GUIS, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality instruction and nurturing the academic and personal development of students. Major Duties:
Safeguarding and Wellbeing:
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and positive behavior of all individuals involved.
- Operate in line with GUIS's safeguarding and child protection policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities for AP Teachers:
- Plan and implement well-structured, engaging lessons.
- Adapt teaching strategies to cater to the diverse strengths and needs of all students.
- Assess, monitor, and record students' progress, employing data-driven instructional strategies to enhance learning.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating educational environment that promotes student development.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the school's curriculum and schemes of work.
- Emphasize the importance of improving literacy and oracy skills across all lessons.
Whole-School Responsibilities:
- Participate in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of the school's policies, practices, and procedures to support the school's vision and mission, with a particular focus on the Social and Emotional Wellbeing of students.
- Engage in the broader life and ethos of the school, including extracurricular activities and school events.
- Attend up to six marketing events throughout the academic year, as required.
- Provide coverage for other teachers as needed.
Specific AP Duties:
- Teachers are expected to maintain an average of 22 contact hours per week, encompassing responsibilities such as classroom instruction, office hours, invigilation, and advisory/homeroom duties. Specific hours for each responsibility will be determined by the Head of School/Division.
- Teaching load (80 min/lesson): Maximum of 5 blocks over two days.
- Office Hours: Four hours per week.
- Advisory: Two 30-minute sessions per week.
- Co-Curricular Activities (CCA): 30 hours per academic year (unpaid).
- Marketing & Admissions days: Up to six unpaid days to assist with marketing events as necessary.
Required Qualifications, Skills, Experience, and Attributes:
- An internationally recognized teaching qualification.
- Proficiency in the language of instruction.
- Strong subject knowledge and curriculum expertise in the relevant subject areas.
- Ability to design and implement engaging, well-structured lessons that address students' needs.
- Effective classroom management skills to ensure a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to improve teaching practices.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the school community.
