Chester College International School, situated on the outskirts of the historic city of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, is in search of an energetic and seasoned educational leader to fill the role of Deputy Headteacher /Teaching and Learning.

Established in 1985, Chester College provides a multilingual atmosphere founded on Christian Catholic humanistic values. As a small and tight-knit school community, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional, personalized education for students aged 3 to 18, emphasizing academic achievement, personal development, and integrity.

The role:

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic leader who is passionate about academic excellence, student welfare, and the growth and development of the school. The Deputy Headteacher will collaborate closely with the Headteacher to support parents, staff, and students, playing a vital role in the school's strategic development.

Key Responsibilities


• Operations Management: Oversees the daily operations of the school, ensuring efficient and effective functioning. Assumes responsibility for the school in the Headteacher’s absence.
• Leadership & Professional Development: Advocates for high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment; monitors and assesses teaching and learning, including tracking individual performance; aids in the creation of a curriculum that promotes the highest achievements for all; leads meetings pertinent to specific responsibilities.
• Part-time teaching commitment: Instruct within a department or section of the school, contributing to departmental efforts.
• Student Progress: Assesses and ensures optimal academic and personal progress for students.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicates and interacts with parents, students, and other key stakeholders within the broader school community.
• Extracurricular Development: Contributes to the enhancement of our extracurricular offerings.
• School Improvement: Aids in the creation and execution of a comprehensive continuous improvement plan for the school.
• Growth Strategy: Participates in formulating and implementing a growth strategy for the school.

Qualifications


• Qualified teacher status.
• Good Honours degree.
• Leadership experience or training.

Experience:

• Proven teaching success.
• Demonstrated leadership within a department or similar role, guiding the work of others and holding them accountable, while monitoring and evaluating performance.

Knowledge:

• Familiarity with effective teaching methodologies.
• Understanding of best practices in pastoral care.
• Proficiency in both English and Spanish.

Skills:

• Strong leadership abilities, capable of inspiring, guiding, and supporting others.
• Exceptional teaching capabilities.
• Outstanding communication skills.

Personal:

• Strong work ethic.
• High energy level.
• Patience and a sense of humor.
• Eligibility to work in the European Union is advantageous.
