About This Role
Secondary English Teacher (m/f/d)
St. George’s School is on the lookout for a dedicated educator to teach English at our Secondary level, commencing in August 2026.
The School
For over 20 years, St. George’s School has been serving the international community in Duisburg-Düsseldorf, offering a rich curriculum alongside a family-oriented atmosphere. What began as a small establishment has evolved into a vibrant community of about 650 students, aged 2-18, from a diverse array of nationalities.
We implement the National Curriculum throughout the school and provide the IB Diploma in our Sixth Form.
As part of a network of three schools across Germany, St. George’s offers the fortunate candidate various opportunities for professional development and advancement within the school group.
The Location
Situated on a newly constructed campus in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region, St. George’s School benefits from excellent transport links to both Düsseldorf and Duisburg, as well as the wider Rhine-Ruhr area.
Düsseldorf, the sixth largest city in Germany, is a lively cultural hub with a broad international community. Located centrally in Europe, Düsseldorf boasts a high quality of life and abundant possibilities for travel and cultural exploration.
The school is just 15km from Düsseldorf airport, which offers numerous daily flights to the UK, and high-speed rail connections facilitate access to various European destinations.
The Role
We are eager to appoint a qualified English Teacher to join our secondary education team.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic educator with a proven track record of helping students reach their full potential. We seek someone who balances experience with enthusiasm and a genuine passion for teaching that will motivate our students.
Our secondary department serves students aged 11-18 and includes the curricula for Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and IB Diploma. We prepare students for both English Language and English Literature IGCSE examinations and provide options for English Literature and English Language and Literature at both Standard and Higher IB levels. A solid understanding of the British education system is essential. While experience teaching IB is preferred, it is not mandatory. Please note that applications from pure EAL teachers will not be accepted.
Given the evolving nature of the school, adaptability and a willingness to support colleagues are essential. A strong inclination to engage in the school’s pastoral and extracurricular activities will also be beneficial.
To access comprehensive information, please download our application pack from the "documents" section.
Only applications submitted via the TES online portal will be considered.
For your application, please ensure you upload the following documents to your Schrole profile:
• A copy of all your degree certificates and associated academic transcripts
• A copy of your teaching qualification
All candidates must possess a valid teaching qualification. We recognize a degree in education (e.g., B.Ed./M.Ed./Lehramt) or a postgraduate teaching certificate (e.g., PGCE) as valid. English language teaching certificates (e.g., TEFL/IELTS/CELTA) do not meet the requirement.
The deadline for applications is Sunday, April 12, 2026. The school reserves the right to reach out to exceptional candidates prior to this date.
St. George’s is dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of children and expects all staff members to uphold this commitment. Consequently, the successful candidate will undergo enhanced background checks.
In compliance with the new EU General Data Protection Regulation, we are obligated to inform you about how the school, as a potential employer, manages your data. This information can be found here.
