About This Role

At AIA, our teaching philosophy is characterized by:

1. An inquiry-based approach.

2. A strong emphasis on conceptual comprehension.

3. Development within both local and global contexts.

4. A commitment to teamwork and collaborative efforts.

5. Differentiation to cater to the diverse needs of all learners.

6. Guidance from various forms of assessment (both formative and summative).

Consequently, the responsibilities of our educators include:

- Utilizing a variety of inquiry methods (such as open, structured, and guided) to spark students’ curiosity and equip them with the skills necessary to construct their own understanding and become independent, lifelong learners.

- Delivering conceptual knowledge that transcends subject boundaries to help students grasp complex ideas. This involves thoughtfully crafting questions, wonderings, and provocations to deepen conceptual understanding while linking content, skills, and concepts.

- Designing real-world learning experiences that help students process new information by relating it to their personal experiences (local context) and the broader world (global context), fostering international mindedness.

- Collaboratively and intentionally planning to create interactive and cooperative learning experiences that encourage effective dialogue and feedback, utilizing data to adaptively meet students' needs.

- Working with colleagues to address student differences by fostering self-esteem, valuing prior knowledge, scaffolding learning, and providing meaningful, respectful, and challenging tasks for all students.

- Organizing and implementing ongoing assessments in collaboration with learners and colleagues to monitor, document, measure, and report on student progress. Leveraging “Assessment as and for Learning” data to adjust teaching methods accordingly.

- Teaching with a focus on approaches to learning skills by identifying the skills and dispositions to be imparted. This includes explicitly instructing on strategies and techniques that aid learners in processing information and fostering self-regulation.

- Effectively incorporating technology to enhance the learning experiences of students, reflecting on the rationale and manner of its use while ensuring digital integrity.

- Supporting and promoting language development by activating prior knowledge, building background understanding, scaffolding language acquisition, extending linguistic skills, and affirming student identities.

- Planning to empower students to internalize sustainability principles and navigate complex systems, enabling them to initiate or advocate for actions that enhance ecosystem health while promoting equity and envisioning a sustainable future.

- Actively participating in professional inquiry (such as PLCs, action research, workshops, study groups, critical friends, and data teams) aimed at continuously reflecting on practices and enhancing learning outcomes for all students.

- Engaging in self-reflection to examine beliefs about professional responsibilities, ensuring integrity and transparency in conduct, fostering learning communities, and respecting as well as promoting both organizational and cultural diversity on local and global scales.
