About This Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Visual Arts Teacher to deliver outstanding instruction and engaging learning experiences for Middle and High School Visual Arts classes. This role will align with the IB MYP and Canadian OSSD curricula at the Bilingual European School, while also contributing to Globeducate events and activities.
The ideal applicant will possess strong visual arts skills across various media and techniques, including 3D work.
Teaching responsibilities include:
• Designing and organizing learning activities to help students meet curriculum objectives;
• Employing a diverse array of instructional methods and resources tailored to student needs and capabilities;
• Encouraging students to utilize both individual and collaborative strategies for conceptual development;
• Integrating a wide range of media, technologies, and tools into the creative process, including digital resources;
• Instructing students on identifying elements of art and design and applying them to develop their concepts;
• Enhancing students' understanding of visual arts and media through art theory and history;
• Fostering aesthetic appreciation and understanding that enables students to make qualitative evaluations about art;
• Assisting students in creating a functional portfolio of their artworks;
• Planning, organizing, and preparing art displays and exhibitions for both the school and the wider community;
• Continuously assessing each student's performance;
• Preparing evaluative reports for students;
• Ensuring classroom management standards and student behavior expectations are upheld.
Education and Experience:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or equivalent; a PGCE or other relevant qualification is highly desirable, and a master's degree would be an advantage;
• Relevant teaching experience suited to the grade level and subject area;
• Strong understanding of concepts, activities, and techniques pertinent to teaching Visual Arts at the required level;
• A solid foundation in classroom management practices;
• Dedication to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning;
• A flexible, resilient, and supportive team player;
• Culturally aware with well-developed interpersonal skills;
• Highly organized and efficient;
• Capable of meeting deadlines.
