ROLE SUMMARY:

King's College School, Cascais, part of the esteemed Inspired Education Group, is a premier international institution situated in the Lisbon area. We provide a global education through the Cambridge International curriculum up to Year 10, complemented by a bilingual Portuguese–English program until Year 5. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Teacher of Global Politics (IBDP) and History to join our team for the upcoming academic year. The successful applicant will introduce Global Politics to our inaugural cohort of IB students starting in September 2026 and will become part of a thriving History department within the Humanities division at King's. Experience teaching Global Politics at IBDP level is particularly valued, along with experience in teaching Key Stage 3 History and/or Humanities and iGCSE History.

You will create engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of historical, political, and global issues. As a member of the Inspired global network, you will work with supportive colleagues and have access to extensive professional development opportunities while also contributing to the broader academic and pastoral aspects of school life.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Deliver thoughtfully planned and inspiring IBDP Global Politics lessons, as well as Key Stage 3 and iGCSE History lessons, in accordance with curriculum and school-wide academic standards.


Encourage analytical thinking, historical inquiry, research skills, and a comprehensive understanding of political, social, and global issues.


Prepare students effectively for both internal and external assessments, including IBDP, iGCSE, and Key Stage 3 evaluations.


Accurately assess, monitor, and report on student progress, maintaining high academic standards throughout.


Contribute to the evolution of the curriculum and the continuous enhancement of schemes of work, resources, and assessment methodologies.


Collaborate with colleagues in the Humanities faculty to promote effective teaching practices and ongoing professional development.


Implement inclusive teaching strategies that cater to students of all abilities, including those with diverse learning needs.


Enrich the Humanities co-curricular program by facilitating clubs, societies, competitions, and enrichment opportunities.


Support the pastoral care of students, fostering wellbeing, resilience, and a love for history and global politics.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:


A recognized teaching qualification and a degree in History, Politics, Global Politics, or a closely related field.


Experience teaching Global Politics at IBDP level, in addition to Key Stage 3 History/Humanities and iGCSE History.


Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring students to engage with history, politics, and global issues.


Exceptional organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.


A reflective and innovative approach, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development.


Experience within an international school setting or familiarity with international curricula is highly desirable.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
