JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of Role

To provide education to students in Year 1 through Year 6 by designing and delivering a comprehensive educational program that fosters literacy, numeracy, and the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of students, adhering to school policies and guidelines.

Responsible To

The Head of Primary for all aspects related to this role.

Responsible For

The designated students in the assigned homeroom class.

Responsibilities

To actively support and uphold the BCIS Mission, Vision, and Values.

To align teaching methods with the BCIS Learning Principles within the primary learning environment.

To collaborate with EAL mainstream program teachers concerning student graduation and transition into mainstream classes.

To apply all relevant school policies concerning staff and students.

Key Tasks

Learning and Teaching

- Develop an age-appropriate learning environment that reflects the BCIS Learning Principles.

- Design engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of students in each class, based on the agreed curriculum aligned with the BCIS Learning Principles and best practices for the assigned age group.

- Deliver a comprehensive range of subject areas following the English National Curriculum, including English (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation), Maths, Science, Computing, Art, History, Geography, and PSHE.

- Differentiate lessons to ensure all students are learning at an appropriate level.

- Plan effectively for any additional adults in the classroom and oversee their responsibilities.

- Collaborate with EAL and Learning Support/SEN teachers to enhance children’s learning experiences.

- Provide guidance and support to students on educational and social matters.

- Address the social and pastoral needs of students.

- Maintain accurate records of pastoral issues within the class.

- Offer constructive feedback and assess all work in line with the Marking Policy.

- Continuously evaluate students’ learning and progress in accordance with school protocols.

- Use assessment data to inform lesson planning.

- Keep assessment files current, ensuring that examples of student work are organized.

- Write reports on student performance, effort, and progress at specified times as outlined in the Reporting Policy.

- Discuss student progress and any concerns with parents and administrators.

- Prepare for and participate in parent-teacher consultations.

- Ensure that student records regarding attainment, effort, and progress are updated each term for effective tracking of student development.

- Foster productive working habits and maintain effective classroom control, organization, and management per school policies.

- Regularly update vibrant displays within and outside the classroom in accordance with the Display Policy.

- Assign appropriate homework in line with the School’s homework policy.

Communication

- Meet regularly with fellow primary teachers to engage in discussions, feedback, and planning sessions.

- Communicate and collaborate effectively with EAL mainstream teachers to facilitate smooth transitions between the immersion program and mainstream classes.

- Work together with Learning Support/SEN teachers.

- Coordinate with Early Years Foundation Stage or Secondary School teachers as necessary regarding student transitions.

- Encourage and nurture positive relationships between home and school.

- Maintain regular, clear, and positive communication with parents about their child’s progress and learning, utilizing written, in-person, and electronic methods.

- Report on student progress during parent consultation meetings and through end-of-year reports.

- Be available to parents at other mutually agreed times as needed.

Professional Development

- Engage in the school, department, and individual review processes (School Self-Evaluation).

- Seek professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in the UK and globally.

- Attend meetings, workshops, and courses that support the School Improvement Plan.

- Participate in vertical meetings with secondary staff.

- Provide relevant CPD/professional learning to colleagues as required.

General

- Help organize and run extracurricular activities, and participate in school events, productions, and sports events as required.

- Take responsibility for Health and Safety matters in your teaching area and report any hazards, ensuring that appropriate safety measures are in place for students.

- Adhere to the Child Protection and Safeguarding policy at all times.

- Address all behavioral issues in accordance with the BCIS Behaviour Policy.

- Supervise designated areas of the school as specified in the Supervision Duty Rota.

- Serve as a role model for students while ensuring compliance with the Staff Code of Conduct.

- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Academic Leadership Team (ALT).

Compensation

฿70,000 - ฿93,600 per month
