Primary Teacher
About This Role
Open Sky International is on the lookout for a primary school teacher to join our vibrant team in Boulogne-Billancourt, located just outside of Paris.
About Us
Open Sky International is a bilingual private school that provides education in both French and English. Founded in 2012, our institution caters to early years and primary students, supporting learners from maternelle (early years) through to Terminale (Year 13 in the British system).
Our mission is to offer an outstanding bilingual education by integrating the best aspects of various international curricula and teaching strategies. We establish high standards for all students right from the start, aiming for a curriculum that is both rigorous and engaging. With small class sizes, our students demonstrate respect, diligence, and motivation. We are proud to serve both French and expatriate families, nurturing a dynamic multicultural community. Our committed staff is passionate about education and well-versed in effective teaching practices.
All students engage with a bilingual curriculum, with lessons divided between French and English. In primary classes, children spend half of the week focused on English literacy, mathematics, science, and art, while the other half is devoted to French, history, and geography with French-speaking educators. Additionally, all primary students partake in weekly sessions in drama, chess, sports, and capoeira.
The Position
We are currently in search of an enthusiastic, innovative, and committed primary teacher to deliver our English language curriculum in literacy, mathematics, science, and art. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented setting and have experience working with students whose first language is not English, alongside a strong understanding of how to effectively teach lessons that bolster their English proficiency across all subjects.
What We Are Looking For
Applicants must possess an appropriate qualification, such as a PGCE or a similar credential leading to qualified teacher status. A minimum of five years of teaching experience with the relevant age group is required. The ideal candidate will be:
- A talented educator with high expectations for all students, dedicated to fostering their growth and success.
- An inspiring individual capable of engaging students, with experience teaching English, mathematics, and science at the primary level, and a solid understanding of the UK primary curriculum.
- Passionate about education, equipped with a strong grasp of best practices.
- Able to demonstrate extensive curriculum knowledge and teach confidently across all subject areas.
- Supportive of and aligned with the school’s values.
- Open-minded and eager to embrace new cultures and experiences while adapting to life and work abroad.
The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in our after-school programs, with numerous opportunities to develop curriculum enrichment activities.
For teachers interested in improving their French language skills, the school provides private tutoring sessions. As a bilingual institution, all teachers are required to either speak or learn both French and English.
Priority will be given to applicants who have the right to work within the European Union.
