About This Role

Dubai British School Jumeirah Park Foundation is actively seeking a qualified and experienced Learning Support Assistant to begin in February 2025.

We are eager to find an Inclusion Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who will work in partnership with the class and year group team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the educational and personal growth of designated student(s), ensuring a learning environment that meets their developmental and educational requirements, under the guidance of the class teacher and Head of Inclusion/SENCO.

The chosen individual will engage actively within their year group and the broader school community, exhibiting professionalism, collaboration, participation, and a reflective approach to their practice.

Job Specification:

  • Operate within the framework established by the designated teacher and Head of Inclusion/SENCO, clarifying the LSA’s responsibilities in lessons, including the provision of feedback to named student(s) and colleagues regarding learning and behavior.
  • Supervise and facilitate tailored support for the designated student, particularly concerning Individual Education Plan (IEP) or pupil passport goals, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities, including specialized lessons when necessary.
  • Offer informal feedback to the designated student regarding their progress and achievements under the teacher's mentorship.
  • Document and communicate issues of concern and positive observations regarding the student’s welfare and accomplishments with the teacher, colleagues, and support professionals.
  • Maintain effective communication with the designated student’s parent(s) through emails and reports in relation to IEP/pupil passport targets and outcomes, as specified by the Head of Inclusion/SENCO, either weekly or monthly.
  • Keep a comprehensive file of IEPs/pupil passports, records, minutes, and other pertinent documents.
  • Contribute to the overall well-being of the children, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Attend required staff meetings and Professional Development days as requested by the School.
  • If necessary and agreed upon by the School and parents, accompany the student to extracurricular activities outside school hours.
  • Perform additional tasks of a similar nature as directed, demonstrating flexibility to support other areas of the school when needed; this may occasionally involve assisting other students, for example, if the designated student is engaged in a collaborative learning situation.
