Position Overview:
We are on the lookout for a vibrant and committed High School Counselor to become a part of our enthusiastic team starting in August 2026. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a counselor who is dedicated to education and wants to play a pivotal role in fostering the academic achievements of our students.
Job Purpose:
To organize and deliver academic, personal, social, and emotional counseling to students.
Job Scope:
You will hold the overall responsibility for crafting and executing a counseling program that aligns with the needs of the school and its student population, empowering students to succeed in all areas of their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold and promote the ethos and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Develop procedures and timelines to provide students with comprehensive counseling in academic, personal, social, emotional, and psychological areas.
- Manage the transition processes for students.
- Create procedures for obtaining external support for students facing personal challenges and emotional needs.
- Collaborate with the senior management team to design experiences and activities that enhance students’ holistic development while fostering responsibility, leadership, cooperation, and other personal and social skills.
- Maintain thorough records of student progress, achievements, activities, and interests, using all available data and evidence to track development.
- Establish proactive guidelines and procedures to address bullying effectively.
- Create and administer appropriate testing programs to assess student aptitude and achievement.
- Implement systems to promptly inform parents about any academic or behavioral issues.
- Ensure adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Demonstrate initiative and dedication beyond the regular work hours when tasks demand additional effort.
- Participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as necessary.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by direct and indirect supervisors.
